Clara Barbier

Soprano

Clara began to study violin and choral singing at the age of six in the Conservatoire de Montpellier. She started to take singing lessons with Armande Olivier, and entered in 2014 the class of Elsa Maurus in Paris. She also studied Lied and Mélodies repertoire with Françoise Tillard. Since September 2016 she follows her Bachelor studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig with Prof. Carola Guber, and enters as well in the Liedklasse of Prof. Alexander Schmalcz. She took part in masterclasses with artists such as Christine Schäfer, Eric Schneider, Thomas Steinhöfel, Regina Werner and Neil Semer.

Her concert repertoire includes the Soprano solo parts in Mozart’s Requiem, Krönungsmesse, Dvorak’s Mass in D as well as Brahm’s Requiem.She was in April 2017 finalist of the International Lied Duo Competition in Groningen, and won the ” Vrienden van het Lied ” Award with the pianist Pieter van Delden. She appeared on stage in 2015 as Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte, and in 2017 as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, during the La Petite Bande Summer Academy in Italy. In the 2017-18 saison, Clara sang in the Leipzig Opera as the ” 1st Knabe ” in Zauberflöte. In the summer 2018 she is Rosmene in an independant production of Händel’s Imeneo and Queen of the Night in a short version of Die Zauberflöte in Leipzig for the festival ” Klassik für Kinder “.

In 2019 she received a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now e.V Leipzig. She is from 2017 to 2019 scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium.

Since 2019 Clara is a member of Juliette Rahon & Co Ensemble and will sing in the new creation "La dernière Sarabande - ou l'obsolescence programmée"
